Ameliorative effect of Withania somnifera against Imidacloprid Induced Alterations in Oestrous Cycle of Female Albino Wistar Rats

The present experiment was aimed to assess imidacloprid induced alterations in oestrous cycle and ameliorative effects of Withania somnifera rats. 48 female albino Wistar rats were divided into four groups 12 animals each. Group 1 is control, group 2 (30 mg/kg body weight/d), 3 (1 g/kg feed) 4 imidacloprid+Withania weight/ d+1 feed). test chemical administered daily by oral gavage for 30 d. Seven consecutive estrous cycles monitored all the vaginal smear test. From each group, 6 sacrificed on 16th d remaining 31st Blood samples collected before sacrifice estimation hormones serum. A significant increase length cycle, follicle stimulating hormone levels decrease oestrogen noticed 2. It concluded that administration provided moderate protection against toxicity regularization due its antioxidant gonadotropic properties.
